Cultural Studies Reflections
Week 1 Reflection Cultural Studies: Our first cultural studies lesson was on the 30/1/13. I was really unsure what the cultural studies subject was about, but was really happy after the lesson knowing that I could relate, understand and that I would have some fun with some people that I wasn’t to sure about, but now I know the kids of the class and this is a great class to apart of. I am just glad that I chose cultural studies as a subject. Homework this week was to make a title page and to answer some questions about if we as a nation are accepting of other countries. I thought the homework for that week was quiet easy and I understood it. Overall the lessons of cultural studies this week was really good.
Week 2 Reflection Cultural Studies: Second week of cultural was on the 4/2/13. I was really enjoying this class this week, I was on top of my work at all times and still having fun in class. I am really liking the people that I have met in that class and staying friends with the people in cultural studies. Homework this week was about Kath walker and her people, this was very good for me as I had to write a biography on her which is due in week 8. I thought the homework for this week was really easy.
Week 3 Reflection Cultural Studies: Third week of cultural studies was on the 11/2/13. I am really enjoying cultural studies, with friends in my class and relatable homework for the topic this week in class. The homework for this week was about David Unaipon and his people I learnt a lot about him. I am looking forward to the next lesson next week.
Week 4 Reflection Cultural studies:Fourth week of cultural studies was on the 11/2/3. This week in cultural studies we were watched the movie Rabbit Proof Fence, this movie is very sad and opens your eyes to see that we are fortunate to be in this generation. I really liked this movie because for one I am a massive movie lover and for two it opened my eyes to see how bad it was to be in that generation/ being an aboriginal. I’m not sure if I would be able to cope with leaving my parents at the age 8-14 as the girls in movie did. Homework this week was about Neville Bonner and the movie Rabbit Proof Fence. Having homework about the Rabbit proof fence was relevant to what we were learning class and gave you some information about the movie, so you could understand the movie a little it. I am really liking my class and I can’t wait until next week.
Week 5 Reflection Cultural Studies: Fifth week of Cultural studies was on the 18/2/13. This week in cultural studies we didn’t really learn about an exact subject. Like we learnt about dreamtime stories and creation of earth, it was fun don’t get me wrong but I just didn’t see the relevance of the homework tasks that were set. Except for the venn diagram and learning about Charles Perkin. Overall this week was enjoyable, but homework wasn’t relevant. Really liking cultural studies and am looking forward to next week.
Week 6 Reflection Cultural Studies: This week cultural studies was held on the 4/3/13. It was a fun and relaxful week. It was relaxful as we were going to have camp but was cancelled and the teachers didn’t have anything to give us for homework. Homework this week was the biography for a famous indigenous person and working/thinking about writing a persuasive letter to Julia Gilliard, about a topic that we chose. The topic I chose was health and was very happy about getting this topic as it is easy and I know a little bit about. Overall this week in cultural studies was fun and relaxing.
Week 7 Reflection Cultural Studies: This week cultural studies was held on the 11/3/13. It was stressful but very fun. It was stressful as we had to start writing the biography, finish writing the persuasive letter to Julia Gilliard, and start writing our presentation for the class. We also got our test results back and I am really happy with my results, as it reflects how hard I have been working at home and how focused I am in class. Overall this week in cultural studies was kind of stressful and very fun.
